The Wuhan coronavirus — which has torn through mainland China with alarming speed, and has infected people in dozens of other countries since first emerging back in December in the central province of Hubei, where Wuhan is the capital.

Wuhan, the city which first showed mass illness from the coronavirus, has been placed into an eery lockdown, with nearly all residents remaining inside whenever possible — and roads practically empty, aside from emergency vehicles and police to maintain the quarantine there.
